Competent Motorsport LLC has represented a passion for motorsport racing since its inception beginning in 2006. Its prime focus has been to provide a first-class racing experience for post Club race car drivers throughout the United States.
Beginning in 2012, Competent Motorsport began its partnership with Porsche Motorsport North America, (PMNA), to become PMNA’s 21st Porsche one-make platform series in the world. This partnership will continue rolling into the 2022 season with Porsche Motorsports North America and other series partners in the 2022 season to form interactive and competitive motorsport racing programs.
Historically, bringing decades of collective motorsport experience and a collaborative effort for excellence, Competent Motorsport continues to provide a premier racing series for emerging and talented race car drivers. The goal is to focus on providing a successful experience for new drivers, experienced drivers who wish to take their competitive driving to the next level, and ambitious gentlemen and women drivers, all who have the passion to compete in a first-class championship motorsport series.
Competent Motorsport returned to its roots in 2021 by bringing back the ultimate experience of Yokohama Drivers Cup USA with the opportunity to continue its on-going relationship with Yokohama Tire for the 2022 race season. Yokohama Drivers Cup USA will provide opportunities to take cars to the track that include the following Platforms and Classes: Porsche 991.2 GT3 Cup cars, (Platinum) and (Platinum Masters); Porsche 991.1 GT3 Cup cars, (Gold); Porsche 982 Cayman GT4 Clubsport – SRO and Comp cars, (Silver); Porsche 981 GT4 Clubsport – Trophy and MR cars, (Bronze); and Porsche GT2 RS Clubsport cars, (Sapphire).
Competent Motorsport, through Yokohama Drivers Cup USA, will bring on the action again in 2022 at eight of the most iconic tracks across the United States featuring 24 races at three-day events, with the opportunity to enjoy 4-5 hours of track time per race weekend.
As always, Competent Motorsport’s key focus is driver safety as well as providing the highest level of a premier racing experience by offering the best interactive and competitive programs. New to 2022, Yokohama Drivers Cup USA will be debuting its official 2022 New Driver Program to assist new drivers and Club racing drivers who are moving up to Yokohama Drivers Cup USA series, to get their 2022 competition license. This unique program and clinic will include classroom coaching, on-track exercises, and mentoring for wheel-to-wheel driving. The program has been designed to develop and improve the driver’s race skills and contribute to enhancing the driver’s experience while developing competitive driving techniques to achieve racing excellence.
Continuing the momentum, 2022 events will not only be driving events, but they will also include professional driver coaching, extensive practice sessions, qualifying sessions per race, along with exciting sprint racing. The objective of Yokohama Drivers Cup USA is to offer performance-driven, “competitive” seat time to further educate and develop the driver’s race craft to its fullest potential. At the end of a weekend, drivers will return home being a more competent and knowledgeable race car driver. Remember, the only difference is truly the driver!
