SEATTLE, WA – November 1, 2007 CiraSport’s Valentinetti victorious in 2007 Yokohama USA Drivers Cup CiraSport Racing’s Steve Valentinetti clinched the Yokohama USA Drivers Cup championship at Infineon Raceway on October 27. CiraSport Racing is located in Seattle, Washington.
The inaugural Yokohama USA Drivers’ Cup sports car series began 7 months ago on California Speedway’s high banked oval. With stops at the legendary Road America in Wisconsin and beautiful Laguna Seca in California the series ended at Infineon Raceway in California’s wine country. For the Yokohama cup series CiraSport Racing fielded two of their Porsche 997 GT3 Cup purpose built race cars built by Porsche Motorsport of Germany. Team owner, Steve Valentinetti said, “I have always liked Yokohama racing tires for our Porsches in the past so we were enthusiastic about competing in this series. Throughout the year the Yokohamas delivered as expected under all racing conditions.” The series was very successful for CiraSport. After the last race, Valentinetti finished first overall and first in the 997 division for the series and CiraSport rookie team member Nick Parker finished impressively with a 5th place overall. During the series Valentinetti finished first in 6 out of the 8 races. According to Valentinetti: “The competition was great throughout the series and the tracks chosen were among the most challenging and fun in the country. My Porsche GT3 Cup performed flawlessly and I need to thank all the team guys for a great job all year.” Nick Parker commented. “I’m glad I made the choice to run with CiraSport for my first year! The guys have a lot of knowledge and time racing at the different venues and had the setups down. Throughout the year, we trained with shifter Karts mid-week and before the races. It was great fun and gave us the fitness needed to campaign a race car at the Pro level.” "I would like to give a big thank you to Yokohama for our success and taking the lead sponsorship in this series. The Yokohama race tires worked great from the high-banked ovals to the technical road courses and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them. We also owe much thanks to Porsche Motorsports and Greg Franz's Competent Motorsports crew for a job well done." Doug Soon, Team Manager added.
